A Southeast Asian cement group was replacing chamber liners on a Φ3.8×13 m ball mill every 90 days. Downtime cost per changeout: ~38 hours. They asked XinRuiJi for a liner that could survive abrasive clinker + high-impact feed end without cracking.
XinRuiJi’s foundry (Wuxi Witdge base) reviewed the wear map: feed-end impact zone vs. middle grinding zone vs. discharge scrub zone. One-material-fits-all was rejected.
· Feed end: 26% Cr cast iron with higher toughness, controlled eutectic carbide network
· Middle/Discharge: 28–30% Cr, lower Si, optimized heat treatment for martensitic matrix
· Mold: shell mold for lifting/lifter profiles; lost foam for curved end liners to avoid draft-angle trimming
· Melting: induction furnace, degassed, slag-free pour, pour temp window ±15 °C
· Inspection: hardness map (HRC 58–62), UT for soundness, bolt-hole position FAI
First campaign lasted 212 days (vs. 90). Liner weight was reduced 6% by rib redesign, keeping mill load stable. The client expanded the order to a second mill and later to a mine SAG feed chute.
XinRuiJi’s liner program is built on the same 2500 t/y foundry that ships 70%+ of output to US/Japan/Germany, so the same ASTM/EN traceability applies to a $3k liner set and a $40k grate package.
